Our U8s & U9s lift Champions League and Europa League Cups at the Harrogate Railway Junior Football Gala

This Saturday, BSJFC U8s and U9s teams steamed through to the Finals at the Harrogate Railway Junior Football Gala and lifted the Champions League and Europa League Cups.

This double win adds even more silverware to BSJFC’s 2025/26 trophy cabinet and is testimony to the dedication and determination of all our players, managers and coaches.

U8s Champions League Winners

In the top tier of the Harrogate Railway Junior Gala, BSJFC U8s won all 6 of their group games, conceding just 2 goals in the process against Clifford, Harrogate Railway, Killinghall, Kirby, Pannal Ash and Pannal Sports.

The Semi and Final were much tighter affairs. In the Semi, joint managers Martyn Wood and Mark Robinson’s side faced hosts Harrogate Railway and held them to a 0-0 draw before defeating them in penalties 4-3.

The Final against Killinghall was tense, and again, after ending 0-0, it went to penalties. Luckily, our U8s repeated the same scoreline to win 4-3 and lift the impressive Champions League Winners Trophy.

Seven clean sheets in eight games show just how much our defence and goalkeeping have improved.

U9s Europa Cup Winners

In the age group above, our U9s also shone brightly.

It was an absolute rollercoaster of a tournament, which quite literally had everything. After two early losses, our U9s caught fire and turned things around with last-minute equalisers and five impressive wins in their next six games.

The Semi and Final saw our U9s face formidable competition in the form of two sides they’d not beaten all season – Killinghall Nomads and Pannal Ash. Alan Yuill, Joel Perera and Jon Thompson’s boys really raised their game, though, drawing 1-1 at full time in both games, then triumphing over both in penalties 7-6 in the Semi and 4-3 in the Final to lift the Europa League Cup. Big shout out to goalkeeper Jude Hoyle who saved the winning penalty in the Final shootout against Pannal Ash.

“It was great to see the effort, teamwork and sheer joy in this win to back up how far the boys have progressed this season”, said the coaches.

Massive well done

Congratulations to our U8s and U9s teams, managers and coaches for all their hard work throughout the season. Great to end on a high!
